🏅 Employees of the Trade Representation paid tribute to the memory of Soviet soldiers in the city of Chengde
On May 8, on the eve of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, employees of the Russian Trade Mission in China, with the support of the Foreign Office of the People's Government of the city of Chengde, took part in the now traditional ceremony of laying a wreath and flowers at the war memorial in honor of Soviet soldiers located in this city.
The monument was erected in November 1945 in memory of 42 servicemen of the cavalry-mechanized group of General I.A. Pliev, who died in the war with Japan on the territory of the former Zhehe province, the center of which was Chengde.
In August 1945, troops of the Transbaikal Front took part in the strategic Manchurian offensive operation in the Khingan-Mukden direction, during which, in cooperation with the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Army, they defeated the opposing Japanese troops. After the enemy’s surrender, Soviet units were engaged in disarmament and organizing peaceful life in the liberated territories.
Glory and eternal memory to Soviet soldiers! 🏅🔥
