🇨🇳⚙️ In China’s modern economic agenda, the term “new productive forces” – 新质生产力 (Xinzhi Shenchanli) – is increasingly heard.
The concept was put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping in September 2023 and has become one of the key guidelines for the development of the Chinese economy.
It is based on a transition from traditional growth drivers to a model where technology, innovation, industrial modernization and the training of highly qualified personnel play the main role.
The New Productive Forces include four main elements.
🔹 Firstly, these are “new” workers - specialists capable of using modern technologies and advanced equipment, possessing high adaptability, knowledge and professional skills.
🔸 Secondly, these are “new” objects of labor activity. We are talking not only about physical materials and high-tech equipment, but also about digital data, which becomes an independent factor of production.
🔹 Thirdly, these are “new” tools: artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, automated production systems and intelligent equipment.
🔸 Fourthly, this is a “new” basic infrastructure that meets the requirements of constant innovative changes and connects the achievements of big science with real production capabilities. In practical terms, the development of “new productive forces” means the modernization of industry, the introduction of scientific and technological innovations, the development of new industries, the digitalization of production and the training of professional personnel.
💡 For understanding the modern Chinese business environment, this term is especially important: it shows which areas are currently the focus of Chinese government policy and which projects are considered strategically significant.
