The results of the 7th annual China Automotive Power (中国源动力) event have been officially summed up in China. This is one of the key industry events, during which an expert jury selects the best engines, transmissions and components that determine the vector of development of the Chinese automobile industry 🚗🛞🔥⚙️
This year the focus was on implementing a strategy to achieve the “dual carbon targets” (peak emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060).
🏆Main nominations and best technological developments
⚡️ Breakthrough innovations and hybrid systems:
🇨🇳Yuchai Bluecore (玉柴芯蓝): introduced a unique power reserve extension system in which the electric motor rotor is directly connected to the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine, which made it possible to remove unnecessary components (bearings, shafts, dampers). Effect: fuel economy >40%, efficiency increase by 20%. Power – more than 200 kW. Used in heavy tractors and special equipment.
🇨🇳 Dong'an Auto Power (东安动力): developed China's first longitudinal 4-speed hybrid transmission DHR40D. Feature: supports all-wheel drive (P2+P4), providing both a powerful start off-road and economy on the highway. Focused on hybrid pickups and SUVs.
🔥Gas giants - power and resource: China continues to rely on natural gas for long-haul transportation.
The new models have the following characteristics:
🚚 FAW Jiefang (一汽解放) CA6SX1 Pro: The industry's first 16-liter gas engine. Power: 700+ hp Resource: 2,000,000 km. Already in use on flagship tractors of the J7 series.
🚚 Cummins China (康明斯中国) 16N: has a power of 720 hp. and torque 3600 Nm. The CBM3.0 intelligent control system further reduces gas consumption by 6%.
🚚 Weichai Power (潍柴动力) WP13NG4.0: specialized unit with 570 hp. with a resource before overhaul of 1.8 million km. Passed rigorous tests in high altitude and extreme temperatures.
⚙️ Efficiency solutions and components:
💡 Mach Power (马赫动力) C15TDE: The gasoline internal combustion engine (specially designed for use in hybrid vehicles) achieved a record thermal efficiency of 45.18%. Became the first engine of this type in the industry to overcome the 45% threshold. Supports 800V high-voltage architecture, which is critical for ultra-fast charging of hybrids.
💡 Sungrow Power Supply (阳光电源): Integrated HEM3D controller with 98.5% efficiency. It is widely used in the popular Wuling Starlight models, confirming its high market demand. 💡 Yunnei Power (云内动力) DEV200: an innovative solution - the abandonment of the gas recirculation system (EGR) in full compliance with the China-6 standards. This simplifies maintenance and increases the reliability of light trucks.
🍀 Alternative fuel and ecology
🧬 Methanol: Guozhi Power (国智动力) introduced the K422T engine (170 kW). It shows a thermal efficiency of 43% and is successfully integrated into pick-up trucks, buses and even marine vessels running on methyl alcohol.
⚡️For electric vehicles: Dong'an Power's M15NTE engine is specially designed for new energy vehicles (NEV). It has already become the “heart” of hybrid lines of brands such as Voyah and XPeng.
📊 What does this mean for the market?
1️⃣ Technological sovereignty: Chinese companies (Weichai, Yuchai, FAW) have finally moved from copying to creating unique architectures.
