🇨🇳📦 China launches first pre-clearance warehouse for cross-border e-commerce
In the Lingang district of Weihai (Shandong Province), on March 2, a pilot logistics center was officially put into operation, implementing a fundamentally new model of customs administration of export cargo - an “advanced customs control warehouse” (前置监管仓).
🔹 What is the essence of innovation? For the first time in the country, the functions of state control are integrated directly into the enterprise infrastructure. Now exporters can carry out a full cycle of operations on one site: 🗄️ storage and sorting, 📋 declaration and inspection, 📦 final packaging in containers.
Previously, the current supply chain required transporting packaged goods to special control areas, opening them for inspection and repackaging them. This led to additional time and financial costs.
Implementing an integrated approach eliminates duplicative processes. Customs clearance and release of goods now takes a matter of seconds, after which containers are sent for export immediately upon completion of warehouse procedures. The first batch of cargo, registered according to the modernized scheme, was sent for export by international ferry on the day of the complex of mentioned operations.
📈 Economic effect: ⏱ shipment processing time has been reduced by an average of 3 hours, 💰 internal logistics costs decreased by more than 20%, 🚀 process optimization made it possible to speed up the dispatch of about 30% of goods by one day.
According to the initiators, the proposed model significantly increases the competitiveness of sellers in the global e-commerce market and, as expected, can be scaled to other regions of the country in the future.
