🇷🇺🇨🇳Andrey Nikitin paid a working visit to the People's Republic of China
In Beijing, the head of the Russian Ministry of Transport held negotiations with the Minister of Transport of the People's Republic of China Liu Wei.
“We see great potential in synchronizing our approaches with partners from China in the field of transport development. Exchange of experience in the development of unmanned technologies, unification of legal norms and joint implementation of infrastructure projects strengthens trust between Russia and China and creates a solid foundation for the development of the transport system of Eurasia,” noted Andrey Nikitin.
The main thing:
🚙Over the past 2 years, a significant increase in cargo transportation by road has been recorded between the two states. Their volume exceeded 6 million tons, and the number of permits issued in 2025 increased by 46%.
🛤The volume of cargo transportation by rail between countries in 2025 increased by 6.3% and reached 186.8 million tons. The plans include the construction of a second main 1435 mm gauge track at the Zabaikalsk-Manchuria crossing. The implementation of the project will allow increasing throughput capacity by 11 million tons per year by 2030, which is almost 50 pairs of trains per day. In addition, work is underway to simplify the visa regime for train drivers. ✈️The number of flights between Russia and China continues to grow. In the summer season of 2025, 228 flights were operated per week, in the winter – already 239. Russian airlines carried more than 1.6 million passengers in 2025, which is 27% more than a year earlier. Russia invited the Chinese side to consider the possibility of using Chinese airspace when carrying out domestic air transportation within Russia.
🌊The parties see great potential in the development of the river-sea transport canal connecting the Northeast of China with the Far East of Russia. The creation of a new coal terminal “Port Elga” will further increase the volume of water transport by 30 million tons per year. In addition, in September 2025, a test passage of a Chinese vessel along the Russian routes of the Lower Amur was successfully carried out.
🌉Bridges across border rivers. The project for freight traffic on the Blagoveshchensk-Heihe road bridge has proven its effectiveness. Given the need for new routes, transport ministers agreed to intensify the work of regional authorities to sign intergovernmental agreements on the construction of new toll bridge crossings with the attraction of private investment.
✔️Russia and China are world leaders in the development of unmanned technologies. To exchange experience in the field of legal regulation of unmanned vehicles, it was proposed to create a bilateral working group. 📍At the end of the visit, the head of the Russian Ministry of Transport invited colleagues from China to take part in the International Transport and Logistics Forum, which will be held in St. Petersburg on April 1–3.
