Latin America, together with the Caribbean countries, can be perceived as a single macro-region with a population of over 650 million people and $15.3 trillion in GDP in 2024 (according to the World Bank). However, it is rather a patchwork quilt, both politically and economically.
The region is a fertile resource base for the main partner countries - the USA, Europe, and in recent decades China. Latin American states, moreover, are experiencing significant difficulties when trying to unite in order to increase the degree of subjectivity in the international arena.
The political and economic fragmentation of Latin America leads to the fact that some countries in the region easily refuse Chinese investments in favor of cooperation with the United States, while others, as a rule, cannot be persuaded either by tariffs or direct threats.
