🍿 If you love beautiful and dramatic stories where feelings are tested by pain and tragedy, we recommend you the film “The Painted Veil.”
💌 This is not just a story of two hearts drenched in sadness and effort.
📁 The plot develops in cholera-ridden China in the 1920s, where the main character Kitty (Naomi Watts) follows her bacteriologist husband Walter (Edward Norton) and, in the face of death, recognizes a completely different person in her husband.
📖 If you like the plot of the film, we recommend that you read the book by Somerset Maugham.
📝 The film is beautiful and romantic, but it softens the corners. In the book “The Painted Veil” (or “The Patterned Veil”) everything is much deeper and brighter, especially the ending.
📚 After reading the novel, you will find out what Walter was really silent about, and you will understand why this story about sin and forgiveness touches the reader’s soul so much.
So start with the film for the sake of the picture, and read the book later - for the sake of the truth that remains behind the scenes...
