Industrial IT: AI data-centre demand hits component shortages

Unprecedented data-centre and cloud demand collides with shortages of basic electronic components and long capacity lead times.

In industrial IT equipment, vendors’ ability to meet AI data-centre and cloud demand hits hard limits: mass shortages of basic electronic components and long capacity expansion lead times.

For APAC corporate projects (Entry Readiness / Managed Launch) this means: • longer lead times on infrastructure procurement; • dual-sourcing even for “commodity” parts; • prioritising suppliers with 12–24 month contractual visibility (aligned with the chip supercycle).

Country radar link: strong data-centre ecosystems (Singapore, Japan, Korea, coastal China) both create demand and compete for the same scarce components.
